Using Dust Spray to Keep Dust at Bay

Keeping dust under control is important for making sure your home is clean.  Dusting regularly is even more important for people who have allergies and asthma. Even if you don’t have allergies, too much dust can cause people to have cold symptoms if the dust is breathed in.  A build up of dust can also attract dust mites.  Dust mites live in dust and can spread around your home.  A dust spray works by keeping the dust from flying in the air and can make picking up the dust easier.
Dust mites live in bedding, the carpet, couches and furniture, even stuffed toys.  They don’t confine themselves to the layer of dust on that shelf no one can see.  You will not be able to see the dust mites with your naked eye.  The dust mites that could be in your home are of two different types, the European dust mite and the American dust mite.  Dust mites feed off of the dust which is actually dead skin that has been shed by the people living in the home.

Because dust mites are so small you could have them in your home and not know it.  People with allergies will react to dust mites in the home.  This is because dust mites shed their skin like people and people who have allergies react to the dead skin and the feces that the mites leave behind.  A runny nose or a severe asthma attack can be a reaction to dust mites.  They can be particularly difficult to remove from your home.  They prefer a humid environment so don’t use humidifiers if you know you have a dust mite problem.  If people in your home are having reactions to the dust mites you may have to take some drastic measures to help them out.  Wrapping up the bedding in plastic and getting rid of your curtains and drapes might be necessary.   You can also use a spray that is designed to get rid of dust mites.  Using a dust spray to get rid of the dust is another option.  Dust spray will keep the dust together so that it can be removed easily.  You can use most dust sprays on your floors, furniture, shelves, blinds, picture frames and lamps to remove the dust.  Using a dust mite spray lets you spray around your home and keep the mites from spreading to other areas in your house.

Because of the way that dust spray works it can be used with many different types of dusting tools.  One of the best combinations is the use of a dusting spray with a long handled dusting tool.  This will let you dust high areas and keep the dust from falling back onto the floor.  You will have to be sure that you clean your dusting tools completely, especially if you have a problem with mites.  To clean your tools, take them outside and shake them vigorously.  Do not bang the tools on the side of the house or you will damage them.  You might be able to wash your dusting tool.  The combination of a dust spray and a duster that is made from synthetic materials is great for getting rid of a dust mite problem.  The spray will bind the dust and the synthetic duster can be washed thoroughly with warm water and soap once the job is finished.  When you put your duster away make sure that you store it so that the head does not become damaged.  You can use dusting spray with cloths as well.  These are very easy to wash in your washing machine when the cleaning is finished.

When you are dusting you should always clean from the top and work your way down.  This causes the dust on the upper areas to fall down as you work.  You will be able to gather any fallen dust as you work on the next area down.  You should always spray your tool and not the furniture or shelf.  This is to avoid blowing the dust away from the area with the spray can.

If you are trying to control a dust mite problem you will want to use a dusting spray every time you dust.  Even if you don’t see dust it is important that you dust with a dusting spray.  Remember you won’t be able to see the dust mites with your eye, so just because you don’t see anything doesn’t mean its not there.  You should consider an air filter for your home and a vacuum that has a filter as well.  These are great preventative measures for controlling a dust mite problem.
