Your Basic Kitchen Cleaning Supplies List
It is absolutely, positively necessary to keep your kitchen clean and sparkling! It's important to keep the area germ-free and shining for your physical and emotional balance. I know that when my kitchen is clean, I definitely feel 100% better about the world.
If you don't have the right kitchen cleaning supplies, that will just make your job of cleaning all the more difficult. So it's best to start the job with the right aids so you can get the job done more speedily and efficiently. These days, it's easy to have all the right cleaning stuff on hand to make the job so much easier.
When gathering all the products you need to get the job done, collect them all in one place. Get one of those plastic carry-alls and put them all together, making them easy to grab, then you won't have to go searching all over to find this or that. Throw in that rag and sponge and rubber gloves, too.
I prefer those new rags that are used for shop cleaning that are made of polyester and you can ring out and use for anything! They are super-duper great. They will polish, shine, remove grease, etc., often without the use of even a cleaning product added!
In the kitchen, start at the top and work to the bottom. In doing a total, general cleaning, you'll want to wipe down the walls, ceilings (sometimes), windows and floors.
Besides having your special cleaning rag, you'll want a vacuum or broom, damp mop, scrubbing brushes, sponges and a bucket. Add your anti-bacterial spray, especially for the kitchen, where you want things to be germ-free.
We all know the areas that will need an anti-bacterial cleaner. The counter, sinks, the stove and refrigerator. That's where most of the germs will collect. You may even want to clean the floors, and every part of the kitchen with it.
The right cleaning supplies
Different cleaning supplies will work on different areas of your kitchen. You'll need a brightening, scouring cleanser for the sink. You'll want a special polishing one for your stove top. The oven of course, needs a good oven cleaner. And you might even want to polish down the inside of your refrigerator with a good window cleaner. And add in a cleaner that removes grease.
The nice thing these days is that you can choose environmentally friendly cleaners that do the job of cleaning as well as your normal every-day chemical varieties. Simple Green and other eco-friendly cleaners make great choices.
A basic list of essential kitchen cleaning supplies might go like this:
- Mop, broom, vacuum (for the floor)
- Basic rags and buckets (for floors and wiping down surfaces)
- Cleaning products (special ones for the oven, stove top, sink, counters, etc.)
- Anti-bacterial products
- Window cleaner
While this basic list will be enough for day to day cleaning, there will be areas or items that require specialized supplies. Essential cleaning supplies are not difficult to come by or overly expensive. Just remember, the object is to get the job of cleaning the kitchen done as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Then you'll have more time for a life!
